Many people experience symptoms such as urinary incontinence, leakage of urine with activity, increased urinary urgency or frequency, accidental leakage of gas or stool, constipation, or pain that can be related to a dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles. These symptoms can affect women and men of any age as well as women who are pregnant or postpartum. What will my evaluation consist of?
The individual care of each patient is our top priority and your evaluation will be tailored to address your concerns and provide an individualized treatment approach. Our pelvic health specialist will go through a detailed history regarding the condition you are seeking treatment for. In some cases, the pelvic health specialist may request your permission to perform an internal vaginal exam to further assess your condition and/or provide treatment. If an internal exam is requested, the therapist will explain the process and answer any questions you may have before proceeding. There will be ample time for questions and discussion related to your diagnosis and treatment options.
