What is an FCE?
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive test of a client’s ability to perform work related tasks. This test is performed one on one with our certified staff over a 1 day or 2 day time period with a duration of several hours to evaluate the physical abilities of the client to perform safe, maximum levels to accurately describe the full function and limitations of the worker. An FCE helps provide accurate, evidence based, information to the worker, physician, employer, and case manager to help determine 4 critical questions in the return to work process:

-
Is the worker physically able to work?
-
Is there a match between the worker’s abilities and job requirements?
-
Are there precautions that need to be taken to prevent re-injury?
-
What modifications can be performed for the worker, work site, or type of work for in order to assist with a safe return to work?
What if I’m not able to meet my job demands?
Then Work Rehabilitation may be an option for the worker.

Our work rehabilitation program provides the perfect solution to ensure that the worker is able to maximize their ability to meet the physical demands of their job, or to address modifications that the client may require in order to be able to perform the job. This program provides an opportunity for workers to come into the clinic and perform strengthening, conditioning, and specific job-related tasks over the course of 1 to 4 hours as the client prepares to return back to work.

Work Rehabilitation helps the worker improve mechanics to reduce injury, establish modification to work site job requirements if needed, and to ensure that they are in proper condition and can perform the job duties required by the employer prior to returning to work.
